Meet the pregnant Victoria mother who gave birth after a serious car crash.

Rose knows life can change in an instant.

Last Friday, the then heavily pregnant Melbourne woman was driving home when she swerved to miss a kangaroo on the road only to be rear-ended by a truck.

Her arm broke in two places and, amid the trauma of the impact, she became unconscious.

Rose was rushed to the intensive care unit of Royal Melbourne Hospital, where her water broke.

Just hours later, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Marie, who was four weeks premature.

On Friday, Rose and her husband Dami, who also have a one-year-old daughter , recounted their incredible experience to Sunrise hosts Nat Barr and Matt Shirvington.

Barr asked Rose what she remembered from the day.

“I was conscious when I gave birth, thank god,” Rose said.

“It was a very crazy experience because I had the injuries from the crash and when contractions started I was like, ‘Oh, no. I’m already in pain over here’.

“I was getting prepared to maybe have a caesarean (section) but labour came on very quickly and within 1.5 hours of the contractions starting, our little daughter Marie was in my arms. It was pretty amazing.”

Dami said it was “absolutely” horrific seeing his injured wife.

“I really can’t remember much because I was just having to make decisions on the fly but getting onsite and seeing Rose in and out of consciousness with a bloody nose sent a chill through my spine,” he said.

“It was an awful experience … I just felt completely lost and helpless at that point in time.

“Thanks to emergency services and everyone onsite who were able to assist and get my wife out of the car and get us to Melbourne hospital.”

The couple say they are struggling without a car which, despite being insured, they need more money to replace along with the baby seats.

They said they have already been through most of their savings.

But the couple happily cooed over their new daughter, who is doing very well after being discharged from hospital on Tuesday.

“She was born at 36 weeks on the dot,” Rose said.

“But she was a very good weight. And, she’s very healthy. And just — yeah, a normal newborn baby. So, yeah, we are grateful.”
