The court heard the Department for Child Protection had been involved with the family since early this year, and both children — including the alleged victim, now six-months-old — have since been placed elsewhere.
Magistrate Joanna Martin said the accused must not be in the company of any child under 18 unless another adult is present. Even sitting next to a child on a bus could breach bail.
“If he’s sitting next to a young child, move seats,” the magistrate said.
The couple was arrested in August after their four-week-old baby was taken to hospital with a swollen leg in May. Medical staff allegedly found multiple fractures, prompting a police investigation.
In court documents, its alleged the abuse occurred between March 27 and May 3.
Detectives from the Southern District Criminal Investigation Branch later charged the pair, who are yet to enter pleas.
They remain on bail and are due to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court next year.
The pair declined to make any comment after leaving the court.
