The two suspects captured on security footage appear to try the back door first, before heading to the front of the business and smashing through the glass door with a brick.

During a minute-long dash through the bakery, they scrounged $90 from the till and then fled the scene in the Magna, which was later dumped in Morphett Vale.

The car, which was reported stolen from Reynella East on Sunday, has since been returned to its owner.

One local, Cornelius McGlennon, said he heard “a loud bang” as the offenders broke into the shop, but didn’t think anything of it.

“I didn’t jump out of bed because I usually hear a lot of noise at the bakery,” McGlennon said.

It wasn’t until 5am that police were alerted to the smashed up shopfront.

The manager of the bakery, David Bowden, told 7NEWS that he’s relieved his staff weren’t on site at the time of the incident.

“I’m just happy that we didn’t have any staff members on site. Generally, in a bakery, they do start at midnight or one o’clock in the morning,” Bowden said.

The two suspects remain on the run, and anyone with information is urged to contact police as investigations continue.
