Serial shoplifter charged with over 100 counts after stealing alcohol worth around $200,000

A man has been charged with over 100 counts after he allegedly went on a shoplifting spree, mainly involving alcohol from bottle shops, for nearly a year.

Fugitive Squad officers in conjunction with the Geelong Liquor Licensing Unit arrested the man wanted about an alleged shoplifting spree throughout Victoria and interstate.

It is alleged the 26-year-old man was responsible for stealing approximately $200,000 worth of goods, predominantly alcohol, between December 2023 and September 2024.

The Truganina man was arrested on Tuesday morning on Sayers Road in Hoppers Crossing.

He has been charged with 102 counts of theft and remanded to appear at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
