A child has been seriously injured when he was hit by a taxi while riding a bike in Adelaide.

The four-year-old boy was struck on Macklin St, Plympton Park, about 10.40am Sunday, police said.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The driver, a 51-year-old man, was not injured and his vehicle was towed for police examination.

South Tce was closed for several hours, but has since reopened.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dashcam footage is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
