An Adelaide Hills man has been flown to hospital with serious leg injuries sustained when a tree fell on him at his property.

The 70-year-old man was cleaning his car on the Gumeracha property when the massive tree branch fell, pinning him down about 3.30pm on Thursday.

He was alone at the time but managed to call triple-0 and waited for emergency services to arrive.

Paramedics said the man was airlifted to Royal Adelaide Hospital with a significant leg fracture that requires surgery.

The victim’s partner said an arborist was due to inspect trees on the property on Saturday.
