A desperate search operation is underway for a missing kayaker after they stopped making regular contact while on a solo adventure along South Australia’s Coorong.

South Australia Police said the man, aged in his 70s, went missing while kayaking southeast of the Murray Mouth, in the Salt Creek area.

They said the man set off on his trip on Monday and the alarm was raised on Wednesday after he stopped checking in.

PolAir helicopters and Water Operations Police are searching the area in the State’s southeast.

Authorities are urging anyone who saw the man kayaking the Coorong to contact the police assistance line on 131 444
