In mobile phone footage of the attack obtained by 7NEWS, the boy can be seen punching the man, who falls to the ground, before other teens are heard yelling at the man to “get up, dog”.

The man attempts to chase his attacker, reaching for a nearby razor scooter to protect himself, before he is rammed by a shopping trolley.

Witnesses said by the time police arrived, the teenagers had left.

The man was assessed and found to not be seriously injured and did not require further treatment, according to police.

The suspect is believed to be as young as 15 years old.

“It’s not as if he was provoked to hit him, he just hit him for the sake of doing it,” a shopper told 7NEWS outside the Munno Para centre.

“It is disrespectful, but unfortunately that’s our society,” another shopper said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the attack for who has dashcam or CCTV footage is asked to contact police.
