Two people have died after a tree fell on them during severe weather in Tasmania on Friday.

Brenda Orr, acting commander of Tasmania Police, confirmed the deaths in a press conference on Friday afternoon.

“It appears that the severe weather has resulted in a tree falling on private property, resulting in the death of those two people,” Ms Orr said.

“No other persons have been injured and Tasmania Police and emergency services remain at the scene.”

No further information about the identity of the victims has been released.
