A rolling car is believed to be responsible for the death of a woman on Tasmania’s north coast.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Victoria and Reibey Streets in Ulverstone about 6am on Monday where a 55-year-old woman had been located unresponsive on the roadway beside a Ford Territory.

She was declared dead at the scene.

Tasmanian Police say their initial inquiries indicate the woman had stopped and exited her vehicle when it began to roll.

“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and loved ones,” a police spokesperson said.

There are no suspicious circumstances.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
