Telstra outage: Airports hit with ‘sh*t show’ delays
A sea of high-vis has clogged one major Australian airport on Wednesday morning as the Telstra outage hits air travel and trains.
Perth Airport has come to a standstill on Wednesday morning amid a nationwide Telstra outage affecting air travel and trains.
The outage began in the early hours, just before a full day of flights out to regional West Australian mine sites.
Images posted online with just the caption “Sh*t show Perth Airport” show hundreds of people, if not thousands – mostly FIFO workers – in huge queues trying to get to departures gates.

An airport spokesperson said the operations were up and running on Wednesday.
“Perth Airport is operating as normal,” a spokesperson told NewsWire.

A Sydney Airport spokesperson said nothing at its airport had been affected.
“At this stage, the airport is operating as normal,” the spokesperson told NewsWire.

A spokesperson for Melbourne Airport said the outage had no effect on its operations on Wednesday morning.
“We will keep monitoring across the day and provide updates where necessary,” the spokesperson said.
A Queensland Airports Limited spokesperson said the outage had not impacted Gold Coast, Townsville, Mount Isa and Longreach airports.
