Eight people and a dog have been injured after a balcony collapsed at a popular coastal town.

It’s believed the group was having lunch when the flooring gave way and the group fell about 2.5m just before 2pm on Saturday, Victoria Police said.

The incident happened at a residential address on O’Donohue Road, Anglesea on Victoria’s Surf Coast in the state’s south.

Three men, three women and two teenage girls suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The group was taken to Geelong Hospital where they remain in a stable condition.

A building surveyor will assess the structure of the building and the SES has cordoned off the area.
