A cattle truck driver has died in a crash in Victoria’s East Gippsland.

The loaded livestock truck rolled as it veered off the Monaro Hwy at Chandlers Creek about 12.30pm on Friday.

The driver, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the crash site, Victoria Police said.

Many of the cattle on the truck were also killed and injured.

Agriculture Victoria were called to assist with the animals.

Investigations are ongoing and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

The Monaro Hwy was closed at Chandlers Creek for some time, but has since reopened, according to VicTraffic.

The death comes just over a year after another car roll incident occurred on the same stretch of road.

There were two people inside the car when crashed down the embankment off the Monaro Hwy at Chandlers Creek, killing one person and injuring the other, on November 9, 2024.
