A rideshare driver will face court after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman during a short early morning trip.
The woman got into the rideshare vehicle at Peel Street, in the inner-Melbourne suburb of Collingwood, about 5am on January 25, police say.
The driver, a 44-year-old man from Thornbury, allegedly sexually assaulted her before dropping her at South Yarra, a short distance away.

Detectives arrested the driver on Thursday and charged him with one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault.
He was remanded in custody and will appear at Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
