Cyclist killed in crash with SUV in Wyndham Vale in Melbourne’s southwest

It's believed the male rider was turning onto an intersection at Wyndham Vale before the crash unfolded.

A man has died when he collided with an SUV as he was cycling along a road in Melbourne’s outer southwest late on Friday night.

The rider, who is yet to be identified, was cycling along Armstrong Rd in Wyndham Vale when he crashed with the Mitsubishi SUV near the intersection of Black Forest Rd at about 11.50pm, police said.

He was found dead at the scene.

The 19-year-old man driving the SUV stopped at the site of the crash and was arrested.

He will be interviewed by police as the incident is investigated.

The cyclist’s death brings the 2025 road toll to 24 lives lost so far, compared with 19 at this time last year.
