Epping, Melbourne: Man arrested after woman found dead in home following ‘serious assault’

A woman has died after being seriously assaulted at a suburban home, with a man known to her arrested and being questioned by homicide detectives.

Emergency services were called to a property in Epping, in Melbourne’s north, about 5.50pm on Thursday to find the woman unresponsive.

The 44-year-old died at the scene, with police saying she had been “seriously assaulted”.

A 50-year-old man, known to the woman, was arrested on Thursday night and is to be interviewed by police.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, or who may have CCTV or dash-cam footage.
