Investigators believe the car involved was a light-coloured, possibly white or silver, European SUV of small to medium size.

The vehicle is expected to have significant damage to the front and passenger side, including the bonnet and headlight area.

Detective Inspector Craig McEvoy from the Major Collision Investigation Unit told ABC the driver would have been “well and truly aware” of the crash.

Police said the SUV was travelling west along Moreland Road towards the Tullamarine Freeway at the time of the incident.

Detectives are urging the driver to come forward and for anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.

Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersvic.com.au.
