Gunman on the run after daylight park shooting in Broadmeadows, Melbourne
A gunman is on the run after opening fire in a popular park on Sunday afternoon, leaving a man in his 20s fighting for life in hospital.
The shooting occurred just before 4pm in a park opposite Broadmeadows Shopping Centre, about 18km from the Melbourne CBD, after two men were seen arguing in the car park at Coles Broadmeadows just minutes earlier.
Detectives arrived on scene to piece together what happened in the vital moments before the incident that has left the victim in a critical condition at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

“It looked like they were about to fight, but then he pulled out, like, a weapon, and then, yeah, I heard the gunshot,” Tahir Mollah said.
“It was quite loud. It was like two big bangs happened right next to me. It was quite horrific. Like, a lot of people were here. A lot of police came in quickly.”

The daylight shooting has shocked the local community, with many people present in the popular park when the incident occurred.
Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward as they continue their search for the gunman.
