A 68-year-old man is fighting for life after he was allegedly run down while trying to stop his car from being stolen.
A Melbourne man is fighting for life after he was allegedly run down while desperately trying to stop his car from being stolen in the city’s northeast.
Police say the 68-year-old confronted an unknown offender attempting to steal his vehicle on Blackwood Parade in Heidelberg West about 7.30pm on Saturday when he was struck by the car.
The vehicle fled the scene immediately after the collision, leaving the man critically injured. No arrests have been made.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the hit-run.
Police are working to identify the driver and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam or CCTV footage from the area to come forward.
The investigation remains ongoing.
