A man, reportedly a school principal, has been stabbed during an alleged violent confrontation with a staff member at a Melbourne school.

The Acacia campus of Keysborough Secondary College was placed into lockdown as police and paramedics rushed to the scene around 3pm on Tuesday.

Nine News is reporting the man who was stabbed was the principal and the alleged attacker a staff member.

Police did not confirm the identities of those involved, but said officers arrested one man, while another has been taken to hospital with injuries believed to be from a stabbing.

The alleged victim is believed to have non-life-threatening injuries.

A notification sent to parents alerting them to the drama read: “Dear Parents, we have had to initiate a lockdown. I can confirm all students are safe and any student still inside the school will be permitted to leave shortly.”

Police say the arrested man will be interviewed.

“At this stage investigators believe the people involved are known to each other,” a statement from Victoria Police posted on X read.

“The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident, has footage or any information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.”

The scary incident comes less than a week after a primary school student and a staff member were allegedly stabbed by another boy at Melbourne primary school.

An eight-year-old boy and a female staffer at Brentwood Park Primary School sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the frightening alleged attack.

An 11-year-old boy, alleged to be the stabber, was located and spoken to by police before he was later taken to hospital for assessment.
