Melbourne police arrest two men after erratic, stolen high-speed car chase across southeast

Two men are in custody after a dramatic late-night pursuit that stretched across multiple suburbs in Melbourne’s southeast.
Police said the Air Wing first spotted a stolen Subaru Outback being driven erratically on South Road in Bentleigh around 1.50am on Monday.
The vehicle was tracked through Bentleigh, Ormond, Carnegie, Murrumbeena and Hughesdale, where it briefly stopped on Kangaroo Road. At that point, the driver and passenger swapped seats before continuing the journey through Chadstone, Caulfield and Malvern.

Officers deployed stop sticks on Malvern Road near Wattletree Road in Malvern East, forcing the vehicle to a halt on Wynyeh Street. The driver then fled on foot, hiding in nearby bushes, but was quickly tracked down after the Air Wing directed the Dog Squad and ground units to his location.
Both men, a 41-year-old from Balwyn North and a 42-year-old man of no fixed address, were arrested and remain in custody to be interviewed.
