A member of Australia's 'Oarsome Foursome' has been left feeling less than impressed, after his four Olympic medals were stolen.

One of Australia’s most high-profile Olympians has been left heartbroken after his precious medals were stolen following a car robbery in Melbourne.

Drew Ginn, a member of the ‘Oarsome Foursome’ rowing team that won multiple gold medals at the highest level and became the pride of a nation, has been left in a panic after his medals were stolen from the back of his car.

Ginn was presenting the medals to students during a speaking engagement at a local school.

The thieves broke into Mr Ginn’s vehicle and made off with one silver and three gold medals from four consecutive Olympics, including his famous gold medal from the Sydney 2000 Games.

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the theft of four Olympic medals in the inner city suburb of Docklands in Melbourne last week.

“These are unbelievably rare items with significant sentimental value,” said Det-Sgt Timothy Reiher of the Melbourne crime investigation unit.

“Olympic medals are awarded to the best of the best and are priceless to their recipients.

“We ask that people look out for these medals in pawn shops and online selling platforms,” Det-Sgt Reiher added.

Investigators believe that the medals were stolen from Mr Ginn’s black Land Rover parked on Cumberland Street, between the hours of 9pm on Thursday September 6 and 5am on Friday September 7.

Other items stolen from the vehicle include a Rip Curl wetsuit, a Go Pro camera and Sony headphones.

Anyone with information that could assist in locating the stolen medals is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
