P-plater faces $1159 fee as excuse for allegedly speeding on Melbourne’s Monash Freeway dismissed

A young P-plate driver’s excuse for allegedly speeding has failed to help her evade an eye-watering fee on Sunday.
The 20-year-old Bonnie Brook woman was allegedly driving a Hyundai i30 about 80km/h over the speed limit on the Monash Fwy at Glen Waverley, in Melbourne’s southeast, when she was spotted by police.
She was pulled over just before 2am, in the 100km/h zone near Jackson’s Rd in Mulgrave.

Her car was impounded for a month at a cost of $1159.
“The driver may have to utilise public transport or sneakers next time she needs to be ‘somewhere’,” Hogan said.
The 20-year-old woman is expected to be charged on summons for speed and speed dangerous.
