The body of a woman has been found at a waste management facility in Melbourne’s north.

Staff at Repurpose It on Cooper St, Epping, found the body while moving green waste on Wednesday.

Police believe the woman was inside a bin that was picked up outside a home in Coolaroo on Tuesday, July 2 which was then taken to the facility in Epping.

The woman has not yet been formally identified, with police awaiting the results of a post-mortem.

“An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the suspicious death,” police said.

Police are currently conducing an extensive CCTV canvas of the Coolaroo area.

They are keen to speak with anyone who may have any relevant CCTV or dash-cam footage, especially between Sunday June, 23 and Tuesday, July 2.

Anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area during this time has also been urged to come forward.

Note: Police had earlier stated the body was moved in March. This has been corrected.
