Arrests made after man seriously injured in violent home invasion in Gladstone Park, Melbourne

Four people, including three teens, have been arrested over a shocking home invasion in Melbourne’s northwest.
Kemal Akbulut, 60, was seriously injured in the violent attack inside a home on Trentham Dr, Gladstone Park in the early hours of July 24.
Five offenders allegedly armed with guns and knives entered the home and cornered both Kemal and his cousin, Birsel Akbulut, 57.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.When Kemal confronted the men, they allegedly launched into a vicious attack and he was shot, beaten, stabbed and struck with a hammer.
The offenders fled the home in a white Haval SUV.
On Wednesday morning, a 17-year-old boy from Mill Park was taken into custody at a Bundaberg, Queensland.
Investigators will apply for his extradition.
Five search warrants were then executed at homes in Bundaberg and Mill Park, Meadow Heights and Tarneit in Victoria.
A 16-year-old Meadow Heights boy, 21-year-old Tarneit man, and an 18-year-old Tarneit man were arrested.
They will now be interviewed.

CCTV footage shows the alleged moment Kemal was violently set upon by the armed group.
He can be heard yelling and crying out during the ordeal.
One of the thugs can allegedly be heard yelling: “Where’s the money?”
Another can then be seen allegedly pointing a gun at Kemal while shining the flashlight from a phone in his face.
They then allegedly demanded he get up and Kemal said he would give them whatever they wanted.
The offenders also allegedly threatened Birsel inside the home with the gun.
She told 7NEWS the pair were innocent victims and that the offenders were actually looking for her daughter’s underworld boyfriend.

Detective Inspector Adam Tilley said police do believe the attack was targeted.
He described the incident as “particularly concerning” and said the victims would have suffered immense physical and emotional trauma.
“Bringing those involved before the courts was a high priority for the Armed Crime Squad.
“I know this shooting caused significant community concern, as is often the case when we see incidents of violence such as this.
“While we do believe this incident was targeted, I want to assure the community that police will do absolutely everything in our power to hold those involved in this kind of violence to account, and to remove illicit firearms from the streets.”
