Two children and an adult have died in a horrific crash involving a truck and car at a Victorian intersection.

Police say the vehicles collided at the intersection of Eurambeen-Streatham and Mount William roads in Stoneleigh just after 9.30am, forcing one to roll.

Another adult, who was trapped in the vehicle, has life-threatening injuries and is expected to be airlifted to hospital.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries.

Surrounding roads have been closed as emergency services respond.

Police are expected to release more information about the circumstances around the crash at a press conference later on Tuesday.

The tragic loss of life adds to Victoria’s growing road toll, with 247 lives already lost this year.
