Woman killed, man injured as truck rolls into pole on Hume Hwy, Melbourne
A woman has died, and another person has been injured, in a shocking series of events in Melbourne’s north.
A truck crashed with a red sedan near Austrak Dr on the Hume Hwy at Somerton about 7.45am on Tuesday.
While that initial crash was considered only minor by police, the truck then rolled into a pole — believed to be a roadside light.

A woman was found inside the Honda with life-threatening injuries.
Paramedics attempted to revive her but she could not be saved.
She has yet to be formally identified.
The male truck driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while the occupants of the red sedan involved in the initial accident were not injured.


All inbound lanes and the right outbound lane of the Hume Hwy are closed to traffic, causing major traffic delays.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area and use the Hume Fwy from Craigieburn.
