Shocking photos have revealed the carnage after a group of youths threw bricks at cars from a highway overpass, leaving a woman with glass fragments in her eyes.

Initial investigations indicate the bricks were thrown by three youths from an overpass on the Princes Highway in the southeast Melbourne suburb of Springvale on Saturday morning.

Five cars were damaged, with photos released by Victoria Police showing holes left in windshields and glass strewn about the cars.

A woman was left with glass fragments in her eyes after a brick was thrown at the car she was in. She was treated by paramedics.

Several other cars suffered punctured tyres as a result of the debris.

Detective Senior Constable Simon Jacobs said these actions could have had fatal consequences.

“We are extremely fortunate that only one person sustained minor injuries, as the outcome could have been far worse,” Constable Jacobs said.

“I strongly urge those responsible to come forward, take responsibility for their actions, and show some compassion for the person who was injured.”

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information has been urged to come forward.
