Warrawong: Man in critical condition after allegedly being set alight, police appeal for information

The suspect fled the scene and police are appealing for information.

NSW Police are asking for assistance after a man was set alight on Monday night.

A man is in a critical condition after allegedly being doused with petrol and set alight.

Emergency services were contacted about 9pm on Monday night after reports of a fire at a unit block in Warrwaong, Wollongong.

When they arrived, they were told that a 25-year-old man had been set alight by an unknown person who fled from the scene.

Paramedics treated the man for serious burn injuries before being airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in critical condition.

A crime scene has been established and NSW Police are appealing for information about the missing person.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
