The 42-year-old driver had turned onto Willshire Way when the incident occurred about 7.30pm.

A family of five — including the driver and his four passengers, a 43-year-old woman, a 19-year-old man, and two children aged five and 10 — were helped from the car by a stunned homeowner.

The driver returned to the scene on Wednesday to piece together what went wrong, telling 7NEWS he was just metres from home when he accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake.

Emergency crews raced to the scene and extracted the car from the pool.

A neighbour said Tuesday night’s silence was broken by a loud crash.

“I didn’t hear any screeching, no fast cars or anything like that. It was just a big bang,” Bec said.

“They were all quite shocked and shaken up and a bit sort of confused about how it all happened.”

Incredibly, no one was injured in the crash.
