The grieving mother of a young Perth girl who died in hospital over the weekend says “life will never be the same without you”.

Jess Yugovich is waiting for answers over what ultimately led to three-year-old Aliyah’s death on Sunday following a routine surgery, time in hospital for influenza A and a medical episode at home.

In a touching post to her daughter, Yugovich said Aliyah had put up a “brief but courageous fight”.

“As we held her tight and the sun began to rise, she drifted off to the other side of the rainbow,” she said.

“The clouds opened and rainbows were seen near and far.

“You were too perfect for this world Aliyah Mae. Life will never be the same without you.”

Yugovich described Aliyah as “the most beautiful girl to ever step foot on this earth”.

“None of this is fair, it was never meant to be this way, but I hope you know how proud we are of you,” she said.

“You fought until the very end, but it’s time to let you rest. We love you to the moon and back, always and forever our little angel.”

Aliyah’s body will undergo a post-mortem examination to determine a cause of death.

But three days later she was taken to Perth Children’s Hospital with a fever and flu-like symptoms and tested positive to influenza A.

After two nights in hospital — and showing improvements and being able to eat and drink — the hospital sent her home.

But the next morning, Aliyah woke up suffering a medical episode.

Ambulance paramedics performed CPR and she was rushed to Midland Hospital.

Two days later she was pronounced brain dead at PCH and, on Sunday, Aliyah passed away.

PCH says the death is under review.

Aliyah’s family say doctors and nurses at the hospital were incredible and worked hard to save her life.

Loved ones are now supporting Aliyah’s family with donations to an online fundraiser.

“Thank you for being such a beautiful friend to my Paxton,” one tribute read.

“You’ll be forever missed beautiful girl. Sending love and strength.”
