Woman injured as hatchback and bus collide in St James, Perth

The collision unfolded on Welshpool Road in St James on Tuesday morning.

A driver is in hospital with injuries sustained in a head-on collision with a bus in Perth’s southeast on Tuesday.

The woman became trapped in her hatchback on Welshpool Rd in St James about 8.40am.

It took almost 30 minutes for emergency services crews to get her out before she was taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital.

A handful of passengers were on the bus at the time.

It is understood they were not hurt and were able to get on another 907 service soon after.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services, WA Police, St John WA and Transperth crews all raced to the scene.

The road was closed for more than an hour, forcing morning traffic to be diverted.
