Earthquake Albany: 4.0 magnitude quake detected in southern ocean

A 4.0 magnitude earthquake has been recorded off the WA coast.

The quake hit at 10.45am 10km deep in the southern ocean and about 260km from Albany.

Geoscience Australia has received five reports from people who felt the earthquake.

People in Augusta, Margaret River and Manjimup reported feeling it.

It comes three days after two smaller earthquakes were felt in Collie and nearly one week after a weak quake was recorded in Lake Muir.
