West Australians — led by disillusioned women and younger voters — have delivered an emphatic message to Anthony Albanese, resoundingly declaring in a devastating new poll the Prime Minister is done, and it is time to give someone else a go.

The shock research reveals the love affair with “Albo” is over, with half the voters in WA believing Mr Albanese does not deserve to be re-elected after just one term. The majority of women and those under 34 polled are the most brutal in their rejection of the inner-city Sydney PM.

Even 20 per cent of Labor voters in the highly respected Newspoll want to give Mr Albanese the flick. Only a third of voters in the State say Mr Albanese deserves to be re-elected, while 50 per cent want someone else in the Lodge.

Mr Albanese’s biggest problem is with women, only 31 per cent back him in for a second term, while 52 per cent have moved on. Likewise, voters aged 18 to 34 want fresh blood.

The result will shock Mr Albanese’s supporters with the PM insistent WA is the Government’s best State.

WA was key to delivering the death blow to the deeply unpopular Scott Morrison Government in 2022. The Liberals lost a swath of formerly conservative seats in the state that helped Mr Albanese fall over the line with a slim majority.

But it appears WA was only flirting with Mr Albanese, and is preparing to swing back hard against his government in the election, to be held in April or May.

The result, published by the Sydney-based newspaper The Australian, will be tricky for Mr Albanese to come to terms with, having made a point of visiting WA since becoming Prime Minister, and making a big deal of every visit.

However, Federal Labor’s decision to ban the live sheep trade to appease environmental activists in inner-city seats over east has upset locals.

Big employers in WA have also been campaigning against the Albanese Government’s continuing agenda to impose radical environmental laws that many fear will cripple the industries that power the State and the Australian economy.

While Mr Albanese eventually took the advice of Premier Roger Cook to bin the proposed laws, many in Labor, including Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek, have been actively trying to revive the so-called “Nature Positive” plans. Only this were they finally killed off.

Industry in WA has also been uneasy about the Government’s decision to allow unions back into the Pilbara despite telling leaders before the 2022 election it was off the agenda.
