Gosnells crash: Man dies in collision on Albany Highway near Tonkin Highway off-ramp

A 39-year-old man has died in a confronting crash just minutes after the car was spotted by a police helicopter.

Emergency services were called to the incident just after 10.30am following reports of two cars colliding on Albany Highway, near the Tonkin Highway off-ramp, in Gosnells.

The 39-year-old driver of a Holden Commodore ute died at the scene after hitting a white Toyota Landcruiser tray-top at the intersection of the highways.

A WA Police spokeswoman said the Holden was “observed” driving on Albany Highway by the police airwing minutes before the crash.

Police said the Holden was not being chased by patrol cars at the time of the crash.

The 68-year-old male driver of the Toyota was taken to Armadale Hospital with minor injuries.

Police confirmed an investigation is underway.
