A notorious stretch of road in Adelaide has claimed the life of a young footy star who is being remembered as a good friend who would do anything for anyone.
Daniel Wood was only minutes from home when his Holdon Commodore station wagon left Uley Rd in Adelaide’s north about 1.30am on Monday morning, smashing into a pole.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but the horrific nature of the crash, which split his Commodore in two, meant he sadly couldn’t be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 35-year-old is being remembered as a passionate football player who was an integral part of the Gumeracha Football Club.
Friends of Wood described him as a “loving and caring” man.
“He was a talented footballer and a mate, who would drop whatever he was doing to help anyone,” they wrote.

Attention has now turned to the safety of the road with local residents telling 7NEWS the 100km/hr speed limit needed to be lowered.
While the circumstances surrounding Wood’s crash are still being determined, the locals said there were concerns about the road.
“Once (drivers) come down here, they just put their foot down and off they go,” one resident said.
Wood’s death is the second in about a week with a 49-year-old man killed in a head-on crash on the same road.
South Australia’s road toll now stands at 15, compared to nine at the same time last year.
