Harrisdale incident: Police on hunt for man after indecent assault on teenage girl

Child abuse squad detectives are searching for a man after a daylight indecent assault on a teenage girl near several schools in the Harrsidale area.

Police say the man, pictured, indecently assaulted a girl in the suburb after engaging in a brief conversation with her around 3.25pm on Thursday.

The girl was not known to the man before she was approached on a street, a police spokesman said.

It is understood the incident happened near Harrisdale Senior High School and the adjacent primary school.

“He is described as being aged in his mid to late 20s, approximately 170-175cm tall, of medium build, with short black hair,” a police spokesman said.

The man was last seen wearing a yellow polo shirt, with a blank long-sleeved shirt underneath. In the picture, he is seen wearing long black pants and white shoes.

Detectives have been knocking doors in the area in a bid to find the alleged offender and urge anyone with information that may help identify the man, or regarding any similar incidents, to call crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.
