Kwinana Freeway bushfire: Traffic chaos as fire burns near Mount Henry Bridge in Mount Pleasant

Motorists were told to “exercise extreme caution” after a bushfire started along Kwinana Freeway on Thursday afternoon.

The bushfire was first reported near Mount Henry Bridge in Mount Pleasant at 12.39pm.

DFES closed the left lane as emergency services worked to extinguish the fire.

The bushfire caused heavy congestion and smoke in the area but was extinguished about 1.45pm

Main Roads WA warned traffic was backed up all the way to Leach Highway and urged all motorists to drive carefully.
