Police say the accused drove a grey Holden Commodore through Greenfields to Mandurah, south of WA’s capital, where it was steered onto the wrong side of Mandurah Rd and caused other drivers to crash as they tried to avoid the danger coming straight at them about 7.45pm.

Nobody was injured, police said.

The Holden was then driven through Dudley Park before it stopped outside a home near the corner of Scarsdale Ave and Tankerton Dr in Coodanup, the same suburb where the car had allegedly earlier been stolen from a home.

The male driver and four passengers, two women and two children aged under six, got out of the car.

One of the women then attempted to drive away but was quickly stopped by police and arrested.

“A short time later, the man was located hiding in a bin outside a home on Tankerton Dr,” WA Police said.

He has been charged with a dozen offences including stealing a motor vehicle, reckless driving, burglary, failing to stop, and reckless driving to escape pursuit by police.

He is due in Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
