Man killed in WA when Toyota Hilux veers off Goldfields Highway and crashes in Leonora

A man has died and two others have been injured when a 4WD towing another car with a sleeping man inside it left the road and crashed in WA’s Goldfields on Thursday.

The white Toyota Hilux was towing a a Volkswagen Golf on a trailer west on Goldfields Hwy when the fatal incident occurred in Leonora, more than 800km northeast of Perth, about 12.40pm.

A 49-year-old man who was sitting in the front of the 4WD was critically injured and died at the scene.

The driver, a 30-year-old man, received minor injuries in the smash.

A 19-year-old man who was sleeping in the towed VW was seriously injured.

The pair was taken to Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital.

Major Crash officers are examining the scene and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

WA’s road toll of 132 deaths in 2024 is an eight-year high for this time of year.
