Perth weather: Backyards left blanketed in hail as storm sweeps across the metro area
Wild weather has left Perth backyards blanketed in hail, while residents are being told to expect more rain and stormy conditions.
The hailstorm swept across the city with residents in Booragoon, Kardinya, South Lake and Secret Harbour being hit hard by the intense downpour of small hailstones.
One local — who captured the storm on video — was forced to take cover at Curtin University as it moved through the area.

“Some showers and thunderstorms in the east (of WA) as the system clears,” meteorologist Christie Johnson said.
“Some morning frost in inland parts of the South West, perhaps some showers, maybe even some small hail or a rumble of thunder through parts of the South West.”
The temperature is set to rise slightly to a top of 18C but Ms Johnson said that is still below average for this time of year.
As Perth is hit by a hailstorm, snow is expected in the State’s south.
Believed to occur only once or twice a year, BoM duty forecaster Bob Tarr said with temperatures in the Stirling Ranges hovering around 10C, it “might be cold enough this afternoon or evening” to spot snowflakes.
