Police have offered $250,000 to help find the man who raped a woman at an outdoor dance party on Cable Beach in May, 2022.

Several people have come forward with information since police announced a $250,000 reward for information that helps catch the man responsible for a terrifying sex attack at a Broome bush doof two years ago.

The reward was announced last week and is the first of its kind to be approved by the Cook Government for a historical sex assault case.

In a case that shocked the State, the 31-year-old victim had been at a party at Cable Beach with about 200 people before she was attacked in the early hours of May 29, 2022.

The woman had left the crowd and had ventured into the sand dunes to go to the toilet when she was bludgeoned to the head multiple times and then sexually assaulted.

Police released images of the woman’s facial injuries, which illustrated the brutality of the attack.

On Monday, a police spokeswoman confirmed Crime Stoppers had received several calls since the fresh appeal.

“Crime Stoppers have received several calls in relation to this incident and officers are following up on all information provided,” she said.

There she was approached by an unknown man, who struck her to the head multiple times before

Detective Senior Sergeant Luke Fowler last week described as a “random and vicious attack on a young woman, and she continues to live with the aftermath of the incident every day”.

“Someone in the community knows something. This amount of money has the potential to change someone’s life, and at the same time, help police and the victim get some much-needed answers,” he said.
