Yangebup incident: Man in custody after discovery of woman’s body inside home

A mother is dead and her son is in police custody after a horrific incident in Perth’s southern suburbs on Monday morning.

Emergency services were called to the Sandpiper Loop home in Yangebup around 7.15am where they made the grim discovery.

A 54-year-old man known to the woman is assisting police with inquiries.

It is understood the man is the son of the woman found dead.

The Nightly understands homicide squad detectives are investigating the death.

“The investigation remains ongoing,” a police spokesman said.

Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.

It comes less than 24 hours after thousands of people rallied through Perth City after 27 women were allegedly murdered at the hands of men this year.
