The Nightly, Australia’s only fully-digital national newspaper, has entered uncharted territory by hitting its highest monthly audience since launch.
The national news website and digital newspaper recorded an audience of 3.6 million readers for the month of December, according to industry-audited IPSOS iris figures.
It’s a 25 per cent increase compared to December 2024. The previous December, 2023, The Nightly didn’t exist.

More than 82 per cent of The Nightly’s audience 53pc of the audience is in NSW and Victoria, 82.5pc outside of WA.
Editor-in-chief Christopher Dore said the rise of The Nightly showed an increasing number of readers hungry for no-nonsense news in an easily accessible — mostly mobile — format.
“The ability to read a curated digital newspaper once you get home at night — before any other publication goes to print — is something our readers are enjoying more than ever,” he said.
“The Nightly’s new app, which we launched in December, means it’s easier than ever to read the news as it is.”
Editor Sarah-Jane Tasker said The Nightly’s growing team of incredible writers, such as National Political Editor Andrew Greene, Chief Writer Aaron Patrick and Economics Reporter Stephen Johnson, were resonating with readers all over the country.
“Our unique brand of journalism — along with expert analysis and commentary on politics, business, world news and culture — has become a mainstay across Australia,” she said.
