“All other CommBank banking services, including card payments and ATMs, are working,” the bank said on its website.
“We apologise and appreciate your patience.”
By 2.06pm, a CommBank spokesperson said the issue had been fixed.
But, the issue hasn’t stopped the company copping a pile-on from internet users, who pointed out the bank had closed many bricks and mortar branches in favour of internet banking.
In 2024, CBA, which owns WA’s Bankwest, closed the last of its 45 metropolitan branches and rebranded 15 remaining regional branches to CommBank.
The bank has been trolled with dozens of “cash is king” comments amid the latest issue.
“This is why we like to withdraw cash to have on hand. -Every CBA customer,” wrote one internet user.
“CASH DOESNT CRASH !!!,” added another.
“Better go back to offline…… you’ve had 30yrs of problems having everyone’s accounts online,” wrote another.
