Law enforcement sources said an investigation into his death remains ongoing.

Representatives for the actor have since released a statement mourning his passing.

“It is with profound sadness we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte.”

“RJ Mitte was best known for his role as Walter ‘Flynn’ White Jr. on AMC’s critically acclaimed, award-winning series Breaking Bad. Drawing from his own experience living with cerebral palsy, Mitte brought authenticity to the role and built a platform on disability awareness and inclusion,” his reps continue, “Beyond entertaining friends and family around the world, he served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s.”

The reported death comes just days after Mitte appeared on The Joe Vulpis Podcast, where he reflected on the impact Breaking Bad had on his career and his enduring friendships with fellow cast members.

Earlier this month, the actor also reunited with former co-star Luis Moncada, with the pair appearing together in smiling photographs shared on social media.

Mitte became a familiar face to television audiences through his portrayal of Walter White’s son in Breaking Bad, appearing in 56 episodes of the hit AMC series.

His character, who also lived with cerebral palsy, became an important part of the show’s central family storyline.

Beyond the award-winning drama, Mitte appeared in productions including The Oak Room, The Recall and The Guardians of Justice (Will Save You!).

He also used his profile to advocate for greater opportunities and representation for actors with disabilities in the entertainment industry.

In a 2019 interview with TMZ, Mitte spoke about the need for Hollywood to provide more roles and opportunities for performers living with disabilities.

Outside his acting career, Mitte was engaged to Kennedy Suarez, having proposed in 2025 following several years together.

His representatives also paid tribute to his work away from the screen and the causes he supported throughout his life.

“He also served as president of The Mitte Foundation, supporting philanthropic efforts and community initiatives, while using his platform to challenge stereotypes and promote greater representation for people with disabilities. At this time, we ask people to respect the privacy of RJ Mitte’s family and close ones.”

Mitte was 34.
