In a sad development for relentlessly trolled footy WAG Chloe Pink, the wife of Kangaroos player Toby has discovered some of her online abusers are people she actually knows.

Speaking to Hit Network’s Carrie and Tommy, Chloe detailed the ongoing virtual attacks she’s received since posting her wedding photos more than a year ago.

Admitting she’s found coping mechanisms to deal with the vile commentary hurled her way, Chloe said she was “angry” it even needed to be addressed, and explained why she felt she had become the target of such abuse.

“Do you think these people are football fans attacking a footballer and you’re just a collateral? Or is this a bigger thing than football?” co-host Tommy Little asked.

“I think it’s not them attacking him, but they have this idea that he has to date a certain person, and be with a certain type of person, and they’re offended on his behalf,” she said.

“Attacking me is defending him (Toby) and sticking up for him because they feel they have possession and control over him. They think they have a relationship with him.”

However, the most shocking revelation came when Carrie asked if Chloe personally knew any of the perpetrators, and if she had confronted them.

“Yep. Even this morning I saw a comment from a person, and I clicked on their profile… we have 60 mutual friends!” Chloe said.

“A few people I have (confronted). Some of them do it on their public profile. One did it on his public profile, and he just doubled down. We grew up together and he just continued to double down. All of them surprised me…”

Chloe and Toby got married in a private ceremony at a Melbourne courthouse, later enjoying an intimate long-table dinner alongside loved ones.

However, the joy turned to sadness shortly afterwards as the torrent of abuse cut to Chloe’s core — and has never truly stopped.

“I’m going to be frank, I was depressed. Toby would come home from work and I would say, ‘I can’t do this anymore, this is too much.’ I had no tools in my tool kit – this isn’t a poor me story – but at the time I didn’t have the coping mechanisms that I have now,” Chloe revealed.

Toby — who has played 35 AFL games for North Melbourne — reached out to his football club and the AFLPA for support.

Chloe was then connected with a psychologist to assist in overcoming the emotional toll, and feels much better equipped to overcome the faceless vitriol today.

The WAG faced another influx of hate recently after posting what she felt was an innocuous joke to social media regarding her attempts to conceive a child.

Instead, Chloe had unknowingly made herself a target once again.

“We’re trying to have a baby and have been for a little while… and I said, ‘He doesn’t know it yet but I’m in my peak ovulation window when he gets home’… I thought it was hilarious, my friends thought it was hilarious, but the comments are vile,” Chloe revealed.

“Comments then became, ‘You’re struggling to have a baby because you’re fat’, the hate comments started turning to attack Toby and I for not being able to get pregnant because of my weight.”

Chloe said that when she’s slandered for the way she looks, or the clothes she wears, “it’s not just me you’re attacking: you’re attacking so many other women”.

Tommy was visibly disturbed by the conversation, appearing teary-eyed as his guest detailed her plight.

Carrie admitted she herself is not immune to copping criticism for her appearance and suggested trolls are empowered when given a platform to stoke hate.

“The power we are giving them to f*** us up is extraordinary. Why do we do it? Why do we keep doing it?,” the co-host asked.

To which Chloe declared: “I want to turn that narrative. You should be allowed to post what you want. A lot of it’s victim blaming: I post my wedding photos and people say, ‘You just want attention!’… everyone posts their wedding photos. And even if I want attention, so be it! It doesn’t matter.”

“I can share what I want and it doesn’t give you the authority to comment on it.”
