While discussing how she related to going through a high-profile break-up following her own 2023 divorce, the conversation shifted to the whispers surrounding Urban and his guitarist, Baugh.

The gossip first surfaced after news broke of Urban’s split from Nicole Kidman in late September, but Kay made it clear Baugh had nothing to do with the separation.

“Honestly, I was heartbroken for them because the media scrutiny is insane and the things that people say ... They’re like, stirring up rumors about Maggie Baugh,” Kay said.

“I’m like, ‘She’s a good friend of mine and I know that’s absolutely not true’.”

Kay also confirmed Baugh has a boyfriend who she has met, sharing: “She’s very happy. She has nothing to do with that whole [Nicole and Keith] relationship.”

“I feel sad for everybody involved, that people are doing that and picking apart their personal life,” added Kay.

“I pray for peace for them and for everybody to have their privacy.”

Kidman and Urban ended their marriage after 19 years, with Kidman citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce in paperwork filed in Tennessee.

Baugh was on tour with Urban on the American leg of his High and Alive tour when the news broke, and was immediately blamed for the break-up.

She faced backlash from Kidman fans online after footage surfaced on September 26 showing Urban reworking his love song Fighter, which was long thought to be inspired by Kidman.

Baugh posted a clip of the pair performing the duet together which captured the change. The original lyric is: “When they’re tryna get to you, baby, I’ll be the fighter”.

Instead, Urban sang: “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.”

Kidman fans flocked to Baugh’s Instagram account, leaving bitter messages for the talented musician.

“It is so trashy to do this to a song inspired by his wife. It’s the ultimate ick,” one person wrote.

But the young star has kept a dignified silence and instead remained focused on promoting her music with Urban.
