Doug Sheehan, actor in General Hospital and Knot’s Landing, dies aged 75
American soap opera actor Doug Sheehan has died aged 75.
Sheehan died on June 29 at his home in Big Horn, Wyoming with his wife by his side, according to an announcement from Kane Funeral Home.
His cause of death is unknown.

He landed his first major role as Joe Kelly on General Hospital from 1979 to 1982, which earned him a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role.
He then went on to play Ben Gibson throughout four seasons on Knots Landing, during which time he was nominated for several Soap Opera Digest Awards.
Other notable acting gigs included playing Edward Spellman on two episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Jack Chandler in a 1990 episode of MacGyver.
His last known role was an appearance on the sitcom What I Like About You in 2003.
Sheehan appeared in three films throughout his career, all in the late 1970s and ‘80s: 10 (1979), Victor/Victoria (1982) and Cops n Roberts (1995).
“Very sad news. Loved him as Joe. Ben & Val had some sweet moments but I was always wanting Gary & Val. We are losing too many beloved soap vets,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
He is survived by his wife Cate Abert whom he married in 1981.
