The furry little alien chaos agent is set to wreak havoc come May, and now fans have got the first teaser of the live-action Lilo & Stitch movie.
The clip runs only 30 seconds but that was enough to whet appetites and unleash Stitch’s destructive powers on a meticulously built sandcastle city. Fans will recognise it as a direct reference to a scene in the original film.
Lilo & Stitch is among Disney’s slate of live-action and CGI remakes of its classic cartoons which also includes the release of Snow White in March.

So, the live-action version will be quite different although the story remains faithful: Lilo & Stitch is set on a Hawaiian island and follows a young girl who befriends an exiled alien experiment who was created to be a destructive force.
Through a series of adventures dodging social workers and alien agents, Lilo and Stitch discover the true meaning of family.
The live-action version stars newcomer Maia Keahola as Lilo while Sydney Agudong will play Nani, Lilo’s sister. Courtney B. Vance will take on the role of Cobra Bubbles while Kaipo Dudoit is set to play Nani’s love interest David.
Filmmaker Chris Sanders, who co-directed the 2002 movie with Dean DeBlois, will lend his voice again to Stitch, who speaks mostly in indecipherable alien-speak.
The voice cast of the CGI characters includes Zach Galifianakis as Dr Jumba Jookiba and Billy Magnussen as Agent Pleakley. Hannah Waddingham is expected to voice the Grand Councilwoman.
Tia Carrere, who voiced Nani in the 2002 film, will play a social worker named Mrs Kekoa while Jason Scott Lee, who previously voiced David, will feature in the movie as a lu’au manager.
The remake is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp who is best known for co-creating Marcel the Shell with Shoes On with Jenny Slate. He was nominated for an Oscar in 2022.
The first peek at the CGI Stitch was revealed in August during Disney’s fan convention, D23. A still image was released last week.
The movie was originally slated for a streaming release on Disney+ but was later moved to its cinema release slate with a date of May 22 in Australia.
The 2002 movie spawned three direct-to-DVD sequels called Stitch! The Movie, Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch and Leroy & Stitch, as well as three TV series.
